Hi guys,

I'm investigating the wheres and whats about slapping a K20 into my lude.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. this isn't a BS thread, seriously considering the Pros and Cons of doing it!

Im actually thinking of doing the same thing. I have a 95 Special Edition with a blown H23. I was planning on getting an H22 for it but when you compare the two, it looks as though Im going K20. Stock H22s put down 170 on a good day, and weigh a ton. K20s are good for 200whp with bolt ons and weigh a fraction of what Hseries weigh. Ill keep you posted

I believe I posted on this same topic somewhere else on this forum.. ludes are kinda heavy but that can be a good thing if you're looking for a nice solid/smooth ride.. making mounts would be one of the big things standing in the way.. I think brian g should be having some in the works in the future sometime.. k's will be in everything.. but I would personally go with the k24/k20 frank to have that extra displacement for a chassis designed for a h22... but if you can't wait.. a h22 type s tranny, built h22 motor and lots of boost would still put a nice big smile on your face :D

Ludes are heavy but any car can benefit from more displacement. You can put a K24 into a lude and have more displacement than a h22
i would say that the k24 is the only k swap worth putting into a prelude.

Ok I'm not familiar with the K-Series engine and should prolly search but since we are talking about them  this is what I have learned so far correct me if I'm wrong...

K20a - DC5 R

K20a2 - Type S

K24a - TSX

K20a3 - RSX Base

I think the Accord Type R runs a K20a too but not sure if thats the engine code?

I'd take a K20 over an H22 or a K24 in my Prelude . . . .
the reason i say that is because sure your getting a better motor if you swaped a h22 for a k20. but while you are upgrading you are down sizing. with swaping the h22 for a k24. you're up grading and upsizing at the same time. :D

The H22's stroke is long enough as it is - I don't want an engine that tops it by more than 8mm's. Gimme something that'll actually make power past 8,000 rpms to take advantage of all the great gearing options out there . . . .

An F22c or modified H22 crank would be tempting, but nowhere near cost effective.

Eh, i'd go for th ek24. Torque baby. Plus im sure with good breather mods and Tuning you could make up power at up to 8k wiht the k24. Check out the article that Honda tuning had with John from Hytech. Hes using a H22 crank with his k20 project.

Wow, thats awesome how he put that together. But is there any problems that I will run across trying to do this, I have complied a few that I have thought of but trying to search for alternatives to make this swap possible and hopefully the first of its kind.

- No actual aftermarket mount kit, (I am talking to a CNC mahine shop about this feat.)

- Axles, and shift linkage (but what I hear is that RSX shift shifting position is similar to Preludes, not sure about the TSX prolly some cutting involved there.)

- Then the ECU and will it work with the Prelude chassis.

I am reasearching this continuely, but if worse comes to worse I'll just get the H22a Euro R motor :D .

-brain g resently stated that haspot is in the process of making a k series mount kit for preludes.
-axles and shift linkage shouldn't be a problem.
-the wiring shouldn't that much different from a ek k20 swap.

Torque is nice, but a stock K20 already puts more to the ground than an H22 . . . . Start modding/tuning it, and it'll blow it away . . . .

Besides, unless you're on drag slicks or R-compounds or something, more low-end torque is isn't gonna be of much use in the first couple gears.
