I could swear I saw on some other forum a couple months ago that a company was working on making an adapter for the J-Series engines to use a K-Series transmission... like the H2B adapters. I believe they also had a S2000-to-K adapter, or at least one in the works.

Ive been looking ever since to try and find it again, but Im not having any luck. Does anyone have any info on this? I figure this would help out a lot of people, since there are a lot more manual K trannies than J ones.

I'll keep looking, and post up any info I find.

I was talking about this awhile ago, but it's just not realistic. Only thing holding you back is the starter situation, but it's kind of a big one.

The J starter bolts in coming from the tranny side, similar to a B or D.

The K starter bolts in from the engine side. The starter wouldn't fit with a J engine, because it would hit the exhaust manifold.

TO make it work, you'd need to cut the K bell housing and fab up a starter mount.

Dang. I could have sworn I saw one of these adapters off of a link off of some forum (pretty, vague, I know). Ive never examined a J-Series up close, and I never thought about the starter... You've got a good point... unless a special manifold was used i guess.

I guess that means we need to push someone to make a J-to-D tranny adapter!

i know inline pro offers a f-k kit, whats all included is as follows:

s2000(f-series) to k adapter plate
custom axles and hubs
motor mounts
twin disc clutch
9/10/11 lb flywheel of your choice

the kit goes for $3900 and apparently is only available for the eg chassis.

i was trying to get them to work on something for my EM2 but they popped of some nutty list of prices

$3900 for the kit
$1900+ in fab time for mounts
$1400 for wiring
and any other fees that may incur would be extra

plus me buying the s2000 motor, k20 trans, wiring....and on and on

there was someone who did a complete bell housing setup for the f to k, but i guess it was too much to mass produce cost effectively? as soon as it surfaced it disappeared. apparently hasport tried this adapter plate thing too but according to inline pro "they failed". i would definitely go this route if some one offered a kit for less that what those monkeys are charging. im a welder, i could fabricate mounts lol and it wouldn't take $1900. they have some half-assed video up on the net of a s2k swapped eg but the quality of the video is junk....not the type of quality id be putting out if i was in any type of hurry to have these kits flying off the shelf.

im sure someone will pioneer this endeavor and we will soon see j to k swaps somewhere

here is my old car. never finished it though. all that was needed was header and axles. rear and trans side were k series mounts and front one was just made from a friend. would have been real fun but sold everything to move out west.

whats cool about the f series motors is the top 2 trany bolts line up with a k series. and the starter is also in the same spot.
i just wish honda made a transaxle like that of a porsche. that way mid engine rwd would be available with a longitudinaly mounted engine like most exotic sports cars.

the top to bolts do line but the input shaft would not line up with the clutch. the top to trans bolts are actualy lowered to get the clutch to line up properly.
