Ok here the deal I finally got my long awaited k-pro. Buts its funny When i start my type-s (k20a2 in my 96 civic) My engine runs kinda rough. It doesn't feel smooth. It will not hold a steady idle, runs around 300-450 rpm then dies.

Now as for hooking up the k-pro I loaded the type s stock program. It throws code p1250 which is (vtec oil pressure). I check over it and its fine no electrical short. I clear the code it comes back in a few seconds.

Another problems I get is when I first start I can rev up fine, but within like 5 seconds something kicks in and the computer will no let me rev past 4k. I also diasable the launch rev limiter.

Idle is odd too if you put some throttle to it will run, but seems like it missing (rough a little) when i let off the gas it will sometimes hold the idle around 1200 then it will drop and idle like 300-400 rpm and die. This part all I have left to think of is timing may have jumped. The engine was from my cousin's car. She wreck it, engine popped out rolled everywhere. So that may cause a timing jump. I also had the idle set at 900 on the k-pro.

Ok to further test the ecu. I installed it in my uncles 04 rsx-s disable the immobilizer, left all the ob2 sensor on, oil pressure switch enable, launch rev at 5500, idle set at 900 and rev limit to 8200.

Check engine lines comes on, haven't check it but sure it was the oil pressure switch.

Idle is perfect no problem.

But the 4k rpm limit is there, even when I am driving max rev to 4k. I turn off the car and start it back up i can rev it like normal past 4k, but within a few seconds it will kick into a 4k rpm mode.

This is also a prc ecu that I had k-pro. At this point I wish I mark it up better so that i know its my original ecu.

Please lend me your knowledge. Thanks in advance...

complete shot in the dark here... but maybe you are running poorly because of the oil pressure?

Since the camgears run off the oilpressure too, maybe the cam timing is making your car run the way it is... if i were you, i would test the oil pressure and start from there

You got a good point I will do the oil pressure test asap.

Ok, so today I had a hunch for about the timing being off. Torn it down to the chain, removed it and aligned it with the factory marks that are on the timing chain, reassembled it and found it was at the correct timing even though it still it looks kinda off. I tell you what honda has did a damn good job designing the chain system. Well after assembling it all, I had another hunch about fuel pressure, so I lowered the pressure as much as possible. Sure enough it was the dam pressure, i had it set at 55-60 psi, so with that reading on the gauge it was pushing too much fuel at idle causing it to bog and die. I hear people run 55-60 psi without problems, so I may have a problem with the gauge. Let this be a reminder that don't over look the small stuff.

Ok now the k-pro situation.

Oil pressure switch code p1259. From the original the prc(k20a type r) ecu they do not use the vtec oil pressure switch. Even using the rsx program it looks for that, but all you have to do is disable oil pressure and you are ok. As far as the 4k max rev problem. I was told the ecu goes into safe mode , when a Check engine light is present, causing you to rev to 4k max. so that an awesome feature.

With the prb rsx ecu, you should not have the code p1259 problem. Feels good to get this problem off my back.

Oh yeah also figure out that the ep3 tps will not work properly for the rsx-s motor. I have to mod it and turn it by a 1/4 turn clockwise. So if anyone has a spare rsx-s, or type r TPS. pm me and let me know how much you want for it.
