Hi,
i dunno how many of you guys out there have an Integra/Acura Type R/S, but this is a question for those technical guys that know how to tune or already have tuned Honda cars.

i've just bought an Australian Version Integra type R (Acura Type S, if ur in AMercica), been 2gether, 3month on the 28th of this month. I've now want to modify her!!

i'm gonna go for a standard mild steel exhaust, 2.5" cat back with high flow cat and resonator, and silencer (when i go out at nite, cuz i dun wanna wake up my parents, else i take it off), apexi power intake with aluminium piping and custom heat shield, APexi Vafc II.
After this, i'm gonna do the internals, like cams and stuff. SO my question is, wat brand should i go for? i'm looking at Spoonsports or Toda, but JUN are also there as well. SPoon and toda specialise in Honda parts, where as JUN are more crazy at turbo charging, and not so much the Type R either.
i'll be doing cam shaft/gears, valve springs, retainer (wat ever they are) and prob the head gasket... if i have too. BUt which brand is my question, this has got to be weighed out on cost vs power, cuz i no mugen is absolutely useless and they charge u an arm, a leg and a litre of ur blood...

so, from experience guy, wat do u think?

THank for any input, i appreciate it
Eddie

Welcome to my site.

There are a lot of options you have. It really depends on your budget and goals.

A friend of mine named Zitian lives in Sydney and can get you any parts you want for a good price. EMail him at [email protected]

Also hondata now is available in Australia as well. ASk him about that too.

Thanks Nikos, appreciate it

They've got Hondata stuff in australia??!?!?!? whoa!!! so cool!!!
i've heard nothing but great stuff about them.... well, except that the pplz tuning it will need ur ecu for a certain about of time to tune it... that means my car cannot be driven... and it's kinda my only transports, and my gf lives.... 40mins away from me... which is kinda a killer...
But issit true that he'll need my ecu?

Honda has always been expensive to modify, so now i've come to the realization that money is a huge factor. I'm willing to spend the money... but not will to spend $1000 for a induction box from mugen that will give me 5hp... that's just pure stupidity!

but yeah, appreciate the email, i'll email him when i get the chance and what mods i wanna do.
Geez... just checking out his site...it's pretty dam awesome!!

Thank again, Nikos

i've seen that pic b4, haven't really noticed much til now.
THere seems to be huge power against with the JDM Type R, ok, understandable... but is the the difference. Fuel octane of course, but it cannnot be purely on that. ANd who are they gonna modify my air box when... my car is on the other side of the country...?

ANd that's so crap, that the australia gets raped with the down tuned type R.. that's sux!!

Hey, at least Australia got a Type R...

There is a guy who can hook you up with hondata if you live in Sydney. AFAIK His name is mark, and goes by the name of BLKCRX on melbccr.com forums. His crx made something like 450hp at the wheels @10,200 rpm.

Yeah just start out with the general stuff intake, exhaust, and get a good header. And if you can just get the hondata reflash its cheaper than the KPRO i think. From the way your talking it doesn't seem like you are all crazy rich or something, so I figure by the time you have saved up enough for cams and valvetrain several of the american companies will have released their K20 stuff, should be cheaper than overpriced Toda/JUN/Spoon stuff.

Altho JUN, spoon and stuff like that are over priced compared to other brands, but the thing is... when u buy cams, u want it to be reliable, give u the power that u want, and also the material it is made out of, it would be of high quality stuff. And how do u no that... say (Not dissing the brand) AEM, is it as good as spoon or TOda... cuz Spoon is over priced, but it's the Research and Development that your paying for, and you no that's it's reliable, and it's not some cheapy brand that will give u the power but will rust or brake down in a few yrs time or when u rev too hard.

wat about Apexi VAFC II, does anyone have solid dyno tunes to prove the power gains? There's alot of junk msgs out there, saying "In my opinion..." the apexi is good, and value for money...? but no real evidence..?

i'm gonna be booking my car in next week to lower my car, with TEIN progressive springs, shocks will come later. Is this ok? getting TEIN springs and some other shocks at a later date?

THanx for all ur help and opinion, huh!! i appreciate
