Yes, you will need a speed signal converter.

You have a few options for the shifter; You can use our new Z3 specific shifter and shifter cables and leave the stock mechanism in, or you can change it and use the 02-04 shifter and cables.

when u say plug n play does this mean no splicing? and if u do have to splice it in is there anything that needs to be done at the ecu or is this all done at the trans under the hood? does this come with the plug for vss or do you have to modify or get the correct plug wich would be for a z3 trans in my situation?

is it possible to wire this inbetween the ecu and gauge cluster instead of trans and ecu? im running the ktuner program 06 ecu with 06 si trans. ecu reads speed perfect but of course gauge cluster cant keep up with pulses. any suggestions

You can wire it between the ECU and cluster...yes.

You will need to use the same power and ground source from the VS sensor, use the output from the ECU to the input of the converter and then connect the out line from the converter to the input of the cluster.
