Hello everyone, thank you for your time lookin into this thread.I`m new to cars and especially Honda. Recently i`ve bought a new honda civic 2.0 i-vtech dohc. after surfing the net for a long time, i come to know the engine code of my car is a k20a. my question is, the current engine under my car hud, does it happen to share the same engine with the one they`ve got in the new Integra? i`ve heard about this actually from some local car magazine recently but i`m pretty unsure.i`m sorry if my question sounds stupid to everyone here but i`m only a newbie!

Well welcome to the site over here your civic does'nt have dual cam motor and the new integra's over here (RSX) has a k20a2 motor, but I've read somewhere that your car has a k20a3 but let me look that up again. The a3's has a different VTEC that does'nt produce as much power as the a2's

Matter of fact read this.

hey c-zero , thank you for the reply.. but i`m pretty sure my engine is a DOHC, erm.. well its stated on the brochures and i guess Honda-Malaysia wouldnt simply put the 4letters in. i`m not sure whether if its a k20a3 or a k20a2 engine , but my engine is a 155hp vtec.. i understand my car is only a civic , so of cause it`s nv as powerful as integra/RSX but may i know more about my k20a3 engine if that is... as in whats its capability and how would i be possible to boast the car into a much higher hp engine but safe ? safe in the sense of the engine wouldnt be overheat very easily and so forth.. thanks again..

Hello from greeting from Penang Malaysia Refer to the civic in malaysia it is a K20A3 engine it same with malaysia local CRV... I produce 155 horsepower To upgrade it try change to an open port filter, recommended HKS Platinum spark plug, i you like to have more power try on Thrust Greddy E-manage as i installed on my CRV K20A3 Malaysia But remember Exhaust system must be 2 inch only because automatic tranmission you know what i say anyway remember to put two bullet recommended

Crv in malaysia is bundle with K20A3 engine dude its not K24A at Malaysia Shores. Emanage doesnt control the vtc as you said but it still very useful. About Hondata K-pro in malaysia we can't get that stuff yet tooo bad so i planning using e-manage to control airflow injector ignition timing and boost . I already using E-Manage to control my airflow. Next week i gonna planing a HKS GT2530 into it hehe....SHock leh

Errr... not very shock but hope you succeed dude. How many boost are you running with ur GT2530?! Post up some pics will be great after you done the turbo kit. I dont think personally contacting the Hondata K-pro and getting the connections is that hard though even if you're in msia. With the right connection and time, anything can be done. Good luck in boosting!

ok.. with all da car terms.. i`m very confused already.. but i`m pretty sure my k20a3 is a dual cam.. as it is what honda-malaysia said.. also i`ld love to start playing around with my car with changing its rim. its currently a 15 inch rims but i was wondering if honda malaysia would void any parts of my car`s warranty if i happen to change 15` into 16` rims? ;p darn.. how i envy those bastards with BoV installed onto their car!

Honfaai, your cars engine would be the equivalent to our Civic Si detuned slightly. It probably has a different gear ratio tranny too.

For everyone else, it appears that the only Japanese car that gets the K24 is the Odyssey. All other K-powered car including the Euro Accord R get some version of the K20A.

brian,

The JDM crv is loaded with k24a... only the msia crvs are with k20a. cheers.

honfaai,

well, if you're scared that you will void the warranty, if anything happens and u wanna go back to the factory for claims, u can always swap back the oem stuffs and drive there if u gonna mod. swapping 4 wheels isn't hard i guess.

According to the Japaneses honda web site the CRV has a 2.0. Are they offering another model with a 2.4 too?

wow, those are some expensive rims!!!!

what air filter have u upgraded to? more often than not, K20As suffer if you simply put in an open pod system. removing the cat will make your low end worse. the reduction in backpressure will cause mayhem for your low end.

Hai is me CRV I-VTEC from Malaysia

regarding on the filter you change if you still using standard ECU then is recommended to use K&N. Open port filter can be used but to make it more power Engine management is required....

Like my CRV I-VTEC is now turbocharged running on safe boost 0.4bar.....

i give out some detail about my car:

Is a SUV

Car Model: Honda CRV I-VTEC Model 2003

Engine: K20A3 2.0 Liter engine

using a 2mm metal gasket

internal parts of engine are stock standard

used with endless 10-40 semi synthetic motor oil

engine decoration spoon style

using HKS Ball-bearing GT2530 Turbocharge with Apexi funnel filter,Sard

R2D2 BOV

Boost Controlled by Apexi AVCR

Engine management by Greddy E-manage

Gearbox 4-speed auto with final ratio filled with RedLine ATF transmission oil

Anyway my turbo is without a intercooler running on safe boost 0.4bar i looking forward for a intercooler real soon.

Want to know more you are welcome to reply at this forum hehe.....
