Halfshaft issue...

I'm having trouble getting the halfshaft to thread cleanly into the transmission (RSX-S tranny, RSX-S halfshaft, K24a2 block). The problem seems to be the mounting bracket on the halfshaft - it is causing interference. When the mounting bracket is flipped around (i.e. not able to bolt to the block) the halfshaft slides in smooth as butter. I am 99.999999% certain I'm using the appropriate halfshaft.

Any advices?:silly:

the tsx's dont require one to use a tsx/ 04-07 accord midshaft?
I have a k24z1 frank I am building and the midshaft top bolt is flipped as compared to the a2 midshaft. Required me to find a MT TSX/ MT Accord midshaft from the same reason.

maybe bracket not aligned properly?
even though hard to thread cleanly, does it go in or it doesn't go in at all?
Are you sure you got a MANUAL half shaft?

This is what I'm thinking...

The halfshaft will thread cleanly into the transmission when the "mounting bracket" is turned away from the engine block. When the halfshaft "mounting bracket" is lined up with the block, the halfshaft won't fit b/c the "mounting bracket" hits the engine block....it's like 5 mm off.

It looks like we will have to separate the tranny from the block, then install the half shaft, then mount the tranny + halfshaft onto the engine:confused:

It looks like the one in the online Acura parts catalog:confused:
Does anybody know if a k20z3 halfshaft will work with a k20a2 tranny? I may just order a new
one from the local Honda dealer (we don't have an Acura dealership here and they won't/can't order Acura parts).

^Interesting....I wonder why more people have commented on this issue:confused:

The issue I'm having is shown below...you can clearly see that the halfshaft isn't parallel and is being pushed outward. Again, if I rotate the bracket away from the block it will thread easily with a rubber mallet.

Looks like I'm in the market for a manual halfshaft:rolleyes:
I meant to update this thread earlier...k20z3 halfshaft worked perfectly:up:

thanks for the solution update mate!
yeah you had a auto halfshaft I had a buddy that had that happen.
Nice, surprised there was not a thread on this already. I used a RSX-S half-shaft on a k24a1 engine and type R trans fine.
