Greetings to all, I've lurked long enough, time to make a thread!

I have a 2004 base RSX I bought in 09 with 5k miles on it.

Did the basic bolt ons at first, Strup SS header, Injen CAI, and Fujitsobo exhaust. I had a buddy doing a k24 swap and in exchange for helping, he gave me his Type-S Intake manifold and throttle body.

Finally I got Kpro and a tune at Locash Racing in Phoenix, brought me up to 167/147

That was 3 years ago.

I figured it was time for a retune and after reading the Vtec Killer threads I thought I'd start up a little fun build.

So here is the plan, feel free to give input!

Already Purchased:
RBC manifold
RDX Injectors
s2000 Springs

Waiting for:
z1 or tsx cams
rocker assembly
spring retainers

I spent an hour reading the threads in here comparing all the cams I liked the TSX, K20A, or Z1 setups, so at this point I just will use whichever I find at the best price lol.

I'd like to see somewhere between 190-200 hp gains, if I am missing anything vital or you have any tips let me know!

06-08 tsx are totally different from Z1. TSX cams are going to be your most aggressive styled cam to go with. i did this for my EP3 two years ago, not sure what i made for power as i was street tuned.. but city mileage sucked. car sounded badass though and people always thought i had some crazy built motor haha. i had one shit pass in the car at the track and it ran a [email protected] with a shit 2.4 60' and spinning super hard due to cold weather and street tires. I liked it, but i would not daily it, the car got about 17mpg around town but got about 30mpg on the highway with my 6spd trans and FG/FA/TSX 6th gear

I'm not doing vtec killer,

if you get the type-s rocker assembly you flip the dowels and can lock in a 2 lobe vtec, a sort of modified vtec killer

I will be using hopefully z1 cams or tsx cams whichever I can find along with a full rocker assembly

I am stoked for the build though plus I have one of the country's greatest tuners taking care of it :)

good luck with the build, I actually have your setup you are trying except instead of a rbc i'm using a prc manifold and I went with the z1 cams...The gas mileage woes are about what everyone else has said...on good weeks I can pull 25 mpg...but avg would be closer to 20-22 and below 20 if you floor it a lot...definitely get a good tuner...u'll pull close to 200 whp...I got 187 with a shorty comptech...and shitty 2.25 crushbent exhaust...

This is also deja vue from previous people with k20a3s trying to do the same thing and the answer is the same now as it was back then. If you are dead set on keeping the k20a3 just because then by all means have at it. I'm just saying if you are going to start pulling cams and stuff then you might as well just pull the motor.

This is a very cool setup, I planned on doing this and only didn't because I found a SMOKING deal on a PRB head. I was just going to use a complete K24a1 long block with TSX pistons, and type s rocker assembly with flipped dowels. It's almost like 1/2 vtec or something haha. One valve is always locked into vtec and one valve does the cross over from primary lobe to vtec lobe, so you actually get a x-over unlike a vtec killer setup.

Joe I'm sure you already know what you want, but if you're going to use this type of vtec setup I recommend using a K24a1 head. It flows almost identical to the type s head, yet much cheaper and valvetrain wise identical to your A3 head (no LMA spot). If you get one LMK and I'll give you a damn good deal on a port job.
