Got a supercharged FG2 with stock head bolts and gasket making over 400whp. finally popped the head gasket. so my question is, to do ARP's and new gasket, does the motor need to be dropped?

Technically you *could* swap the head bolts without pulling the motor, but verifying your timing marks is going to be a major PITA when you are putting the cams back in. If you can keep the cam gears and timing chain together (constant tension with bungee cord) throughout the overhaul, it will simplify the engine timing on reassembly. I think this is the only major issue. There are some threads here (and maybe even a couple YouTube videos) to show the process of "in car" engine work.

It's probably worth having an engine hoist on site just in case as a "plan B" if you drop the timing chain.
