Hasport being one of the leaders in mount kit technology and have one of the best mount kits in the world has dissapionted me with the EG/EK/DC header. So one of my customers ordered one and i took it out the box for the first time. The flange ported are all off. round and oval and smaller and out of round then the head port. The welds are crap. DC has production headers and look better then that. The collector has many indentations and ripples and the inside of the collecter is horrible. If anyone is looking to buy this header think 2 twice before you buy it. The DC is a much better header or spend the extrs $ few hundred dollars and get a R CREW or something. I own a bussiness but my profit is not the main concern. Quailty parts and customer satifaction is priority.
Cusotmer looked at it and didnt buy it oh well. :roll: this is why you need to take deposits :x

This isn't the first problem I've heard of with this header. I understand that they just wanted to get it out for the people to have something available. I think everyone appreciates the opportunity to have this header, but I think they need some sort of qualilty control here. I am awaiting the EF mounts and will probably get the axles to go with it, but I am certainly rethinking the header.

This may sound a little off topic, but someone needs to do a header shoot out for the R crew Header, hytech, and DTRs 2 header designs. I need to know how equal these headers are.

Just wait I am dynoing my car on thursday with a new DTR 4-2-1 set-up I will run it with the same exhaust set-up as before so I get an exact comparsion first off without tuning then tuned, then I will try a couple of exhaust combinations to see if I can gain more power from it.. I will post all the results no matter how good or bad they are.. I will also post pics of both set-ups when they are finished.... what I started aswell as what I ended with..
I know the DTR will make more power just how much is the question.. the poll so far put it at between a 15-25whp gain over my RSX-S shorty header set-up.

it looks exactly like that. My opinion is that its functional, the looks of it doesn't bother me, mine is gonna get wrapped with heat tape anyway. I agree it is also a quick solution which is perfect for my purpose as well. Plus it was quite cheap for a header.

What headers do you plan to test? Man if you didnt live in New Zealand im sure alot of people would be down to send out some test headers for you to run.

Header tests are not as easy as they sound.

About 2 months ago, I had a header test lined up with hytech, dtr, hasport, k20eg, true race and tsx headers. Needless to say the test never took place for a few reasons.

I am not going to go into details but just to give you an idea why this is hard to do.

A test like that usually benefits the cheaper headers because the testers can see how they measure up to the competition. At the high grade high $$$ level, it is a different story.

As you know, each header to make good power needs to be fully tuned etc..

It would be very very very time consuming to fully tune each header on one car under same conditions, same dyno etc...

Even so, there are still problems... Derek from hondata gave me some advice on how to setup a header test like this.. Check out wht he wrote

It would be quite time consuming to dyno all the headers, as each should be
tuned to give maximum output.

What I suggest is to pick a baseline header (perhaps the TSX), and fully
tune the KPro to that header. Establish the best A/F and take care to make
the A/F flat around that optimum point. Lower the VTEC point to around 4000
rpm if possible.

Then for each header keep the same ignition and cam angle settings, and
perform any fuel tuning you need to keep the A/F within a certain range.
e.g. if the dyno shows you make maximum power at 12.8:1 A/F, then for each
header make sure the A/F is from 12.6:1 - 13.0:1, adjusting fuel if
necessary. This will give close to maximum output for each header without
requiring a lot of re-tuning for each header. Chances are they will run
much the same A/F anyhow.

To make the testing fair just run the headers without an exhaust. Otherwise
you'd need to adapt the exhaust to each header, which would take a lot of
time as each is probably a different length and diameter.
but even in that case, picking the TSX as baseline header, will affect the high power headers... and so on....

Just wanted to give you an idea why a header test is really hard to make "fair" and why big tuning names do not like to be involved unless they are present there to control each variable. I do have to say that Danny from DTR fab was excited about it and offered to loan me a header and take care of the shipping as well as Brian G and Joetype S even offered to bring his own true race header and help out with the test..... :wink:

Yea, but just seeing some numbers comparing to eachother being compared through the same car being tested would at least clear up some of the clout that i have in my head.

THE WELDS AND LOOK IN SIDE THE TUBES ITS LOOKS BAD IN SIDE FROM BOTH SIDES
