Well, you paid a lot. About $1000 more. You can get a k20a for $4500 at some places. Just motor+tranny+ecu.
They have differences like the LSD, final drive, higher compression, cams, etc...
It really depends on your plans for the motor... Both motors are nice...
If your future plans include turbo, then the type-s is better... If you want to go all out in a N/A setup then the type-s is better in my opinion..
If you want to add some bolt ons and be happy with 230-250 WHP then the type-r is a good choice...
A lot of type-s people are upgrading their motors with type-r cams, throttle bodies etc... By the time they are done spending money to match the type-r motor, they still do not have the same compression or the LSD with final drive...
Very common mod for the type-s is the toda head package that will run you around $2000. Jun, mugen and other companies are coming out with their own stuff....
If you paid for it, keep it and make sure you got everything in working condition... After all, the k series, swap craze has just began.
I called this one guy that had 2 type-s swaps and he wanted $10000 for both. Some people can afford to wait, and some people can afford the price.
