OK well I'm building a k20 with a k24a1 head. Using a k24a1 head gasket. I'm using type s rods and pistons and a type r crank. I mounted the head and torqued it down to 80 lbs. I turned the crank clock wise to see the compression in each cylinder, with no timing or cams. Well one leak outta the exhaust port, which is cylinder 4. The head is ported and has type s valves. Idk if this is right or not js. Thanks for our time and input.

i have reused head gasket before that were new, may sound dumb but i bold a f22 head on backwards once. after trq'd it down realizedthe intake manifold would not bolt up. undid it flipped head around and drove car for awhile before i sold it. some ppl may frown on it but if its new i would inspect it once took off, no sratches/gouges i would go with it.

also you should be able to tell witch valve air is coming from. pull head apart lap the valve with lapping compund and seeif its making good contact all around(lapping will show where its making contact).

bad port job should not affect valve leaking unless while porting got into the valve set, im sure person who ported it will chime in on what he did shortly as i remeber you had another member do it.

Whether or not you can reuse your head gasket is a touchy subject. I've seen people reuse them once or twice without a problem. I think you should be ok just make sure it was installed correctly and that no damage is evident to it. If you see anything weird on the gasket just get another one they don't cost that much.

Sorry you had to go through all this Jesse. My bad, after lapping the valves I remember I touched up a couple spots I didnt like. I must have nicked the seat and not realized it. I didn't have my phone or net access for about 10 days so this is why it seemed like I was ignoring you. As soon as I got my phone back I hit you up and made the situation right. Yes I could've let you know I wouldn't be able to contact you before I was admitted, but sorry man that was the last thing on my mind haha. So I'm sure I stressed you out and you thought that you had just got f'd over. I just want all members to know that isn't the case and the error (leaky valve) was purely a mistake and not on purpose. If this means anything me and Jesse are still doing more business in the future, so he's not afraid to deal with me or anything haha. Thanks guys have a good one, just wanted to clear that up.
