? why get one piston, what is wrong with what you will be setting up with? I am assuming your running stock pistons? You wont damage the piston by claying the motor, but I would install the pistons normal, that way you get a more accurate reading and dont scratch the walls up. And I am not an expert, but I would think your safe for 50* cam advance, no claying needed, unless your upping compression. Chris off CRSX mentioned he has yet to see very many cams want 50* so I bet you prob wont benefit past 40* on these.

what pistons you going with? And if you got anextra 250-300bucks you could prob find some Eagle H beam rods, I paid 250 shipped new for mine last year.

NO, the ring does not change the height of the piston. Just put clay on to of piston. Your moving the cam by hand to see if the valves mark the clay. Not a-lot of clay.
