what the fuck, sorry that it happen. Did you have a fuel leak, what kind of fuel line you use. O man you had boost bet that heat got something really hot which caused it to catch fire.

Looking at the pic there seems to be alot that can still be salvaged. It just looks BBQ'd that's all. The bad part is that you'll probably need to get a new RSX core harness and have the poor thing rewired again, change a few sensors, get a new valve cover, and then just give it an overall good scrub down. Basically anything plastic or rubber in the area of the burn is probably toast. But you gotta look at the good side, you still realistically have a good longblock and tranny. Most of the fire was over the tranny, not alot to burn there except the linkage cables. The accessory belts look to be in good condition and the alternator area doesn't look that burnt either. K's aren't cheap, save what you can and rebuild.

With a burnt engine there are two factors which will render it useless:
1. The heat warps the engine, both in a major and minor way. The major part is if the head and block twist/distort, the minor part is when covers warp and don't seal, also parts don't line up.
2. The heat changes the heat treatment of the aluminum. You don't need to get aluminum very hot to soften it. You can hardness test to find out if this has happened.
