CAI ,

FULL EXHAUST

FLYWHEEL
KPRO

now that the cams are in my car , doesnt start , could be it cause of the stock injectors ? could it be cause of the tune ? Has anybody has this problem before ?

I can use the help and feedback ....

are you getting any CEL's in K-pro? FYI IMO the stg3 is too much cam for a stock motor

who did the cam install? did you remove the timing cover on the side & line up the colored links with the appropriate timing marks? injectors would not be a problem in order for the car to start. what calibration are you starting with?

double check in Kmanager for CEL's... I think its impossible you don't have any

so the motor cranks? do you have spark?

edit - what shop did the cam install? did you check piston to valve clearances? I don't think you can run full VTC on them

I built mine, 11.7:1, flat face valves, and .027" HG with these cams. I have yet to start it, I finally pulled it to take it to a local shop that is now sponosring the car, they are gonna find out what is wrong with it.

My car threw no codes at all on my Kpro also. I did have it start on the third try, it ran like shit for 5 minutes, then got to 245* and I shut it off, then after 3-4 minutes I heard a pressure release from back of block, then nothing. I cant get car to start again. I did a compression check, which I recommend you doing, #1 and 4 were 40psi, and #2 and 3 were 65psi, oil in the cylinders bumped all 4 exactly 25psi higher.

Also, what is your valve lash set at? Specs say intake at .006" and exhaust at .008". I would check the clearances, if too tight your car wont start cause valves wont close properly to build compression. Also, try setting them loose like .008" In and .010" Ex to just run the cams in, then go back and tighten them to specs. That way you know they are opening/clsing correctly.

All else fails, talk with your shop again, which hopefully you are doing already anyways, I bet they are willing to help.

what 6spd_EK said is very important. aren't briancrower stage3 able to run @ 20 degrees max vtc on a stock type-s !? some confirm plz

what ever map you use to turn it on delete all cam angles on low & high cams & set it both to run 0 degree only & let your tuner do a full tune on it.
otherwise that motor may go boom.

have the shop download the helms manual & install the cams according to the manual (with the side timing cover off)

lastly, if you are running stock pistons you are 99.9% of the time, wasting your time with stage 3 cams

I called Brian Crower just now and spoke to them, they said if you stay below 11.5:1 on the stage 3s you can go full 50* advance and be fine on p2v clearances, over that 40*and then clay it to see if you can go more advance on them.

with stock type-s pistons :wow:
do they even make power above 30* vtc?
someone that has/had them fully tuned plz share some info
i know Kevin949 had them fully tuned on his engine

I dont think you would make power over 30* myself, you need compression to make them come to life. I think kevin949 on CRSX made maybe 5whp more up top on them than the stage 2s, and downlow the stage 2s made more hp/trq.

I would not see why it would be an issue for p2v clearance with stock pistons vs not having any with aftermarket. There is very little dome, higher compression pistons have more dome, to make it a tighter tolerance with p2v. Just how I see it, though I dont fully understand all that anyways.

Also, you said you had no compression, what psi numbers did you get? Did you try adding like a capful or two of oil into each cylinder to do a wet test? pour it down the spark plug hole. Afterwards do a compression test on that, if the number goes up, it can be rings or hg. If nothing, might be valves bent. Do you have access to do a leak down test? December issue of Honda Tuning mag had an article of how to make your own if you cant borrow or buy one. What does your oil look like, milky or just oily?

is not just dome height there are 12.5:1 aftermarket pistons with more p2v clearance than oem rsx pistons.
the oem pistons don't have deep valve pockets for few stage2 cams or most stage3 cams depending on how aggressive are the cams to run at full vtc compared to most aftermarket pistons which generally have taken valve pockets into consideration.
