Well, basically Im a total rookie when it comes to the K series engines, long gone are my days of rebuilding b and d series engines to stab into my 93 civic. I came across an 05 base model rsx for a price that was to good to let go from a private seller (that's why I didn't get the type s). Now that i got the RSX paid for I am ready to modify. So I have a few questions to kind of get a hand on what I can expect.

1 Are type s catback exhausts and racing headers compatible with the base model? If not what kind of modifications need to be made to the after market parts to make them compatible?

2 If I install a race header and an exhaust on my K20 A3 will it cause error codes in my ecu or cause any other problems with sensors?

Any advice and help is appreciated. Thanks...

You might want to hang onto your hatch and use it as a daily while you read threads on builds here. You'll prolly figure out you'll want to get a Kpro'd ECU so any bolt-ons will not throw code and actually see power gains for you. A K20a2 motor would be the best thing for you. The internals will support the Horse Power gains desired. Better yet is the k24 block with an a2 head. Nice ta meet ya too!

with a race header, you might trigger the check engine light because it doesnt have a cat and the secondary o2 will raise hell on you..bolting on an exhaust will not cause any problems except make rackets around your neighborhood.if your neighbors are nice then you should be fine...lol..j/k man...the only problem you might have is the check engine light from a race header.but u can fix that with kpro...

Yeah I agree with that getting the a2 or the k24/a2head combo is definitely the only way to go, and I'm gonna build a monster to swap into my chasis, but that all comes with time and $$$ and times are kinda hard with the economy. Right now I just want to squeeze a couple of extra horses out of my a3 daily driver so that it's a little more fun whipping around my Htown stomping grounds if you know what I mean.

As far as a planning a high output engine build I'm definitely just gonna get a k24 long block and then swap the head. What would produce better results? The K20 a2 head, or the head out of the S2K?

nah the s2k head wont work lol. only k series heads are interchangable w/ each other.

But just to squeeze a lil extra horses out of an a3 there is a thread about usin a2 rockers and pins, you should check that out.

So, with my rookieness still at full strength, let me ask this. Will race headers for the A2 be compatible on the A3 head? I mean interchangeability would be ideal in my situation.

By the way, thanks to all of you who were willing to help me out on this thread. May the Honda gods be on your side during every swap, rebuild, and drag race....:worship:
