Hey guys Im new around here, but im not new to hondas. Im going to be buying a "new" car soon and i was considering getting a CRX and then doing a K20 swap down the road. My question is which model/year would be better for the swap, as in Si and HF. or will it not really make a difference. This would be my first engine swap but i have been working on hondas for years now. Would one be easier than another or would it be the same as in terms of difficulty. How would performance be effected? I know that the HF is lighter, so straight line it would be quicker, but what about handling and braking? I need to make a decision soon guys because not having a car sucks. TIA!

FYI: I am also considering rebuilding the motor and boosting it, whats your input on this?

i am definately partial to the 90-91 si models because of their rear disks.. although it is an easy swap to do onto any other model, i still like em.
the 88's have a rear trailing arm just like the integra type r's but thats and they were lighter due to pillar mounted belts rather than door mounted belts.
the hf is a good platform to build off of because it has mpfi like the si but it doesnt have a sunroof which will prolly just leak anyways and like i said, if you want rear disks, just swap em on.

so basically its just the same whichever route i go, thank you thats what i wanted to know.
sort of... if you start of with a dx, you will have to go through the extra trouble of wiring it up for mpfi and harnesses from hasport or wherever you get it will prolly not work. if you're going to be redoing it all yourself, then it wouldnt matter which model you get.. i dont think you'll be able to keep the ac when you swap a k20 into a crx and like i said about the sunroof.. they usually just cause problems, its starting to look like an hf with no sunroof or ac is a better place to start off.
but if you can get em both for the same price, a good ac system and sunroof setup are worth some $$ to resell...

yah personally i never use ac even in the summer months (i live in arizona), as for the sunroof i know that they make plug kits for it so i might go that route. both of the cars are the same price (3500) both are very clean and have aroung the same mileage. Only difference is the model and the color.
