i have a race header exhaust pulleys and a diy intake on my car (06 civic si). if i am just accelerating normally at about half throttle and taking it to like 5 (just very normal driving) after i put in the clutch and let the car coast, my rpm's will drop back down then get way to low then jump back up to like 1200 then finally settle back to the normal like 800 or so.

if i am ripping the car, like all the way to redline, then the rpms will drop all the way down to like 300 or even sometimes the car will just die.

i have no idea where to look in order to fix it. i first noticed the problem after i switched back from an injen cai to a diy intake (cr-v tube, connected to the stock maf housing cut out of the stock box, with an apex'i filter on it. ) all the intake lines are all attached and not kinked.

thanks in advance for any advice.

hmm sounds like an air leak or maybe the maf sensor is dirty or damage. I dont know.

Did you disconnect the battery when you put in your diy intake? If you didn't that probably why since the ecu still think that it has that injen one on and the air flow is different and probably leaning out your motor.

Reset the ecu by unpluging the negative on the battery for 15min and then plug it back in and drive around normally. let the computer relearn for a few days and see if that works.

what else have you done to the car besides the intake?

i have a dcrh, light weight pulleys and a ws2 exhaust. but i had all those mods on for a while before this all started happening.

ecu has been reset multiple times. im beta testing the cobb acccessPORT on my car. but this problem existed before i put it on. it seems like the accessPORT just exaggerated it. i was running a really lean map for a bit then put the stock map back on and temporarilly took the accessPORT off till i can get a better map. is it posible that being really lean (average of about 15.8) for like a day hurt one of the exhaust sensors?

first of all your car does not have a maf sensor, second i have never heard of cobb ever making anything for honda/acura, third if your a/f was 15.8 for some reason you could have damaged alot more then some sensors...i would start at the intake manifold and check for possible vacum leaks

lol, cobb does a lot of stuff for subaru, nissan, mazda. they stepped up to trying to tune the k20z3 and recruited some of us to help test it. it will basically be a full standalone, but we are currently just working on getting some base maps locked down right now. you can check out cobbtuning.com for more info on the accessPORT. but i have probably said too much about it already (we are not supposed to tell detailled info on it yet!)

if it was running leak you could have BBQ some pistons or damage them.

http://www.k20a.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27766

check the pix of the piston, but you said only for a day so i am not sure if it will be damage to that extent. umm try running without the cobb and see if it will work correctly. Basically try to isolate and test stuff. have a voltage meter ready to check those sensors.

Reset your ECU and that should fix the issue.

Did you make your self an X-intake? Modify the veins etc on the Maf housing? If not done properly cars have had problems due to the AF ratio! Now if its just cut out and bolted on with no vein mods then beats the hell outta me?

i have the same problem currently in my swap.

Reset your ECU and that should fix the issue.
