Looking at honda accord, cr-v, element and TSX sales for March 2005, the number is 54,786 so let's assume 50K. Some of the accords are V6, so assuming half the accords are 4 cylinders... that bring the number down to 35K cars...

So, from 2002-2006, there should be around 2 million k24a engines on the road... Not bad at all.

Here's a screenshot

pacman you think the cost of the motor is going to go up? i was thinking there would be more supply to meet the demand. i remember the price of the b16 didn't go up a hole lot until honda stopped making them.

I have been watching the prices over the past couple of years...

Type-S motors went down, because of higher supply. Type-R motors went up, because of higher demand, despite a higher supply.

Not any big changes, the Type-R was $5000 at first, but hard to find. Now they are easier to find, but sellers want $5500-6000. I'm not in the auto industry in any way, just an engineer/programmer working for the power company. I'm sure it would be cheaper if I knew somebody.

In japan, you can get one for around $3300 cash... $2800 broken... k20a R

but if you ship it on its own... and then pay to have it cleared through customs.... + freight... you are at $4500...
