allmotor+boost on demand

this is a mix of allmotor and forced induction so i just put it in general section. i am a big fan of all-motor. but when it comes to overall speed, boost owns. so i was thinking strap a supercharger with a a/c style clutch to it. but then, arent he high-profile lobes bad for boost? so in a way, the low-rpm lobes would work better for boost? if so, is there a way to set up a switch that when the supercharger is engaged the switch will also disable the high-rpm lobes?

also, would it be possible to make the switch also change the fuel map to compensate for boost, etc.?

i have a b16 right now but im talking about for the k20a(type-r).(k's not going in until fall/winter 05 because i just used some money to get my car repaired...fire hydrant) the idea just popped up and i am wondering if its possible.

ive seen something like that on a celica, but dont know how its setup.
HMM...
OK let me see here...

Get the type s motor then...Leave the Vtec alone.....Go get the car tuned and then you'll find out how much power the car is making...The swicth thing that's Gettooo..

Get a stand alone..K-Pro- Aem ect....

4" pulley to 3.4 pulley 7 psi boost upgrade

The lower power curve is the JRSC Race kit with headers, cold air intake and 4" (5 psi ) pulley. The 4" pulley was swapped for a 3.4" pulley using the belt as supplied with the JR kit. The stock catback was swapped out for DC twin cannister catback. Peak torque increased 20 ft pounds and peak power 30-35 hp.

Specifications

Up to 100 peak wheel hp from a stock RSX depending on the boost level, dyno and modifications.
30-50 ft/lb torque increase between 2500-8700 rpm.
Rev limiter raised to 8700 RPM
VTEC point lowered between 4000 rpm at wide open throttle and 5600 rpm at cruise.
Passes California smog testing (no measurable difference from stock) with stock exhaust.
Fully dealer compatible - works with all Honda scan tools and equipment.

anyone seen any numbers on a sc k20r. ive always wondered what kind of power they would make with good tuning. prob close to the 300 mark i would think.
you think the stock vtec cams work fine? the main thing i cant figure out is how to add the extra fuel with the supercharger engaged (i dont want it on all the time), so the switch doesnt just engage the supercharger, itll also change the fuel mapping. will there be a way to maybe use the nitrous feature on the hondata ecu's to "trick" it into adding fuel for the supercharger? also, ive never seen how the nitrous feature works; does it use a seperate fuel/ignition map or just "modify" the normal map.

the reason for "boost on demand" is the launch-traction issue and fuel economy. on launch its hard for a FI car to get the traction it needs, but an all-motor engine on the other hand doesnt make as much torque so wont spin the tires.

thanks, kevin.

I am new to the whole K thing (saving for a K20 swap for my crx) so I will try to give you some advice.

As for the engine I would not get a K20A if you plan on boosting anyway higher compression higher cost.

As for the fuel issue look into getting the Hondata K pro it should be able to do anything you want and more. And they should already have tuned maps for both 5 and 7 psi.

If this advice is not helpful sorry I tried.
im planning on running all motor on the track(taking the sc out), the sc is mainly for street ;). also i want to run a high compression(around 12:1 pistons)/7psi setup(equivelent to running 11psi on 10:1 pistons), which is why the ignition/fuel maps are so important, and why i want the k20a. if possible, i want to use the low-rpm vtec lobes when boost is introduce.
