Hi K20 im putting together my second all motor K setup it will be based around a stage 2 setup and iv talked to a couple people in the last month that are running E85 on there all motor setups and saying they are putting down more power then pump gas.
i thought E85 was mainly for boost??
what are your guys thoughts on running E85 in an all motor setup??

thank you for you input,

Lots of factors are involved.. But it takes more energy then pump gas... So it evens out to about the same. But with boost e85 is great.

I gained 12whp with E85 over 93 pump on my allmotor engine . I love it.

I made about 10-12whp more with e85 as well on my na setup but had to recently switch back to 93 pump because there are no e85 gas stations in mobile,al(moved from atlanta)

But there are many factors involved as well like importracer2123 said. One factor is make sure all ur fuel lines are upgraded to SS. as many as u can if not all of them. over time e85 eats away at the rubber lines. your injectors have to be big enough because e85 takes more energy, have an aftermarket fpr, etc etc etc etc............................................

12.5:1 compression Bps3 cams, rbc with 70mm TB port matched on a restricted apexi world sport muffler. 274whp 202wtq E85. May sell it since now went stock k24a4 rotrex on E85.

I use ID1000cc injectors with a 255hp pump + in line bocsh 044 pump tuned at 75psi

By what others have said is you need big injectors, kpro, and fuel pump(walbor, etc).

I heard of people saying that different lines are also important. So I guess these ss lines you speak of are what's recommended?

That has been proven to be a myth, in vehicles made after like 1985. I've had a few friends as well that have ran stock lines/filter for years and have yet to see corrosion from E85.

Here is a little article about different myths and E85

thank you for the link it has a lot of good info:up:
since E85 is 105 octane do you think im going to have trouble cause im running stock compression??

You will be OK.
Which engine or what compression?

You could probably get away with modified OEM injectors to 510cc

Most new rubber fuel lines can handle E85. Old prior 1990 not.

E85 has it's advantages & disadvantages:

Burns about 200°F cooler than pump gas so your engine runs cooler
your engine gets internally cleaner
It requires about 20%~30% more volume
you may take advantage of it's 105 octane & cooler burn by leaning it a little more at idle or cruise to gain a little MPG
it attracts water so gotta be careful storing the car on really high compression on boosted engines.
about $0.50 cheaper than 87 octane pump gas in many states.
really hard or far to get in many areas.
your travel distance gets shortened per fuel tank.
made in the USA so we support local jobs.
makes good power but gotta see if it's something you willing to get into after looking at the +&- it comes with.
aem ecu allows you to switch, mix on the fly from E85 or pump gas. Like a true flex-fuel GM Car does. By adding a ethanol fuel mixture sensor.

i have a k20z1 running stock compression with IPS k2-11 cams intake manifold 75mm TB and going to be running Kpro. how is running E85 with Kpro?

It's all in the tune. It runs perfectly
Why you think I said I love it :D

Id1000 are great. prefect idle & great atomization + room for improvement in the future in case you add a supercharger or build a k24/k20.
