Re: DC5 ITR 4th & 5th gears

I have 02 type s tranny with synchrotech 1-6 carbon synchros, if putting dc5 itr 4,5 gear do i need different synchros? Itr 4,5 synchros same as 02 type s? If same i need to order both asap
Did you put different synchros in when you swapped the DC5 itr 4th and 5th gear sets?

I am gonna have my tranny rebuilt and thinking to put in the DC5 itr 4th and 5th gear sets but some people said the original synchros in my 03 type s tranny won't fit the new gear sets.

Want to make sure I have all the parts I need before dropping in.

But I have done a bit research, 4th and 5th gear sets in 02-04 DC5 type r are different from 05-06 DC5 type r.

5-6 syncros in 02-04 is 23626-PNS-305 and 05-06 is 23626-PNS-315.
So we have to get the right gear sets to match the syncros in the tranny.

This guy has the 05-06 4th and 5th gear sets

What year are the 4th and 5th gear sets that you're selling? I may get both of them if they are for 02-04.

4th is the same either way, half of 5th is the same 02-06, the other half is 04

this is probably late but all you have to do is swap the syncro to a double cone from a single that is it i did it on mine no problem.

all you need is 1 double cone syncro for 5th, 4th is a direct swap

you leave 4th the same and install a double into fifth the syncro is all that is different nothing else it is nearly a direct swap. i have dc5 4 5 6 in my si currently i would ditch the si 6th the space between 5 and 6 will be to long i would go at least with a rsx-s 6th or you will redline to get into 6th from 5th. also you will have to come down to real low rpm to go from 6 to 5 with out over rev. i dont know where you live but if you live in a hilly area the dc5r gears are great and they have nice acceleration. i also have a 5.1 final drive which makes them shorter more. i would play with a gear calculator before making final decisions. if you play video games try it in gran turismo. it is very close to how they really work just set the gear ratios weight and hp to what you expect and you can have a very cheap simulator to try you gear ratio ideas on. works for me and i knew what to expect within 200 rpm. i have a oem double cone syncro and rsx 6th if you are interested if you decide to go with the dc5 4 5.
