Shooting for major power numbers. Would aluminum 4" exhaust be the best or should I go stainless? The aluminum will be a little bit cheaper than the stainless.

Also, what would be the best material for the 4" DP? I am going to ceramic coat it inside and out, so can I just use mild steel and be ok?

4" is the way to go with big power numbers. Aluminum is way lighter. Down pipe you can make it out of mild steel if you are going to coat it in and out.

If your going to coat inside and out, just make the down pipe out of 4" aluminum you will be fine.

I ran an aluminum down pipe uncoated with no issues at all...and drove it pretty much everyday

I am pretty sure i was a .065 which is 16ga, you can probably find some 14ga and that would surely do you fine.

Its a turbo car. Not sure on the thickess. You can ask "onefstek". I know he sells 3in aluminum kits maybe he could do a 4in" kit also.

Is the thickness of the pipe most of the time.

You can also get 11ga pipe, you could do 16 for the exhaust and 11 for the down pipe.

I use 16 gauge for the exhaust. On a street car I like to do the downpipe in stainless. Unless you are really worried about weight savings.

I think I will make the DP in stainless, just seems like it will hold up much better... Aluminum isn't the strongest material...

I havent talked to Stefan much but I just placed an order with Charles at ASP, great guys IMO. Look forward to my parts!

You must have a pre-dc5/ep chassis..there is barely anough room for a 3in on the ep's tunneless floor. Good luck and keep us posted with pics!

My old car.

4" 16g Aluminum. Very light weight, but very strong. I don't know how I completely feel about aluminum exhaust on the street. Wheelhop is always a bitch on the street, and i can see that causing stress on the welds, and possibly cracking.
