I’ve been an active member of ClubRSX for years under the same handle. I figured since CRSX was slowly dying it was time to graduate here. Below is what I have posted on my Build Journal so far on CRSX. Updates will be added within a month or so when the car is finally back together.



I've been around here for awhile and I've still been lurking since I sold my mint 06 A-Spec Type S 3 years ago for career purposes. Recently while not even looking for another RSX I stumbled upon what seemed to be the "get in now or let it go forever" car.

I've always loved the DC5 platform, and I've never been one to buy someone's else's build...but this was too good to pass up. Essentially this car was bought to be a fun spring/summer car which will be parked in the winter.

Basically since the car has already been built to be fun, I'm just going to clean it up, make it a hair flashier, and drive the hell out of it. The car came to me pretty clean, but anyone who knows me locally knows I always like to have the cleanest cars around so it just needs a few touches. As you can see I already started picking up a few minor parts:rolleyes:. I'll probably dive deeper into it over the winter or next spring.

Since the last post I’ve finally had some time to tinker. I have installed the red EP3 hazard, rear wiper delete, Ktuned Billet Race Spec shifter w/ aluminum bushings, some dress up engine hardware (black washers), and picked up various OE interior parts from the scrap yard (mint sunroof, plastics, etc), and I have also refinished the door cards in foam padded black suede. The car is finally coming around to the level of clean I need.

Below was my DC5 Red Recaro refresh I completed recently.​


Now there is a good DIY for disassembly and whatnot available already...so there’s no point to remake the wheel so to say...

DC5 Removal/Disassembly

This DIY is aimed more at a good reputable company to purchase the replacement bolster foam and suede covers. All links listed below were the parts I purchased from Capital Seating UK.

seats experience this from the use over the past 17ish years.

Final Step
You’re going to want to wash the seats so it brings a more uniform color to the older portion of the seats you didn’t replace. This again has been done extremely well in a youtube video so no need to replicate.

DC5 Recaro Cleaning Procedure

Now just as a disclosure no one makes DC5 foam replacements...as in no one in the entire world as I searched high and low before diving into this project. The foams and suede covers used here are DC2. They mount the exact same, and the only difference is they are slightly thinner near the hips (honestly not noticeable).

Difficulty: 5/10
Time: a few hours
Cost: $$

This is an easy job for someone who is hands on, and who can’t find a clean set of DC5 Recaro’s, or who would like to give a nice refresh to their current set.
