a few points...
1) the tubing on the s2 header is not small at all...it is 1.875" coming off the head
2) except for the collectors being on the same plane, the design is nothing like smsp...in a K swap application the header fits best flat like that...why would you want to sacrifice ground clearance....also stacking the collectors makes it harder to get equal length in a k swap...the s2 header primaries should all be within +/- 0.5" in length
3) s2 has been building custom headers for K powered race cars in grand-am cup for several years...this includes 2.0 and 2.4 liter engines...in grand am the performance of the header and exhaust becomes super important because the intake manifold and throttle bodies are limited to stock. the s2 powered cars have always trapped 3-4mph faster because of 2 reasons 1) the signal strength of the header is super strong and tugs on the intake really hard allowing the engine to make more power 2)the header is makes the engine more responsive and allows it to come off the corners alot harder
the k-swap header is a proven design that compromises very little in both 2.0 and 2.4 applications.
4) just because the header is mass produced doesn't mean it is in anyway compromised...if a header wasn't built specifically for your engine (based on dyno testing of your specific engine) or built to fit your car, then it really isn't custom, is it? i think some of us confuse custom with quality, in which case the s2 header is a quality part. the welds on the s2 headers are of the highest quality, the welds are back purged and welded using a combination of skilled craftsmen as well as semi-automated welding rigs, it uses stepped primaries, it uses a very custom collector and lots of custom billet parts...here are some detailed pics http://cms.skunk2.com/id/158/Skunk2-...K-SWAP-Header/
5) totally agree that the s2 headers are a bit late to the party, but i think there is always room for a good product. just as people are starting to find out with the recently released B header, more people will also begin to realize how well the K-header performs and fits.

Im not a skunk2 fan, but man, you guys are quick to judge a header by what it looks like. lets let the dyno speak for the performance, not what it looks like on the outside.

supposively it's doing well. surprised tony from skunk hasn't commented or backed the header up with a dyno of some sort yet.

the pictures of the actual product look better than the ones on the original site posted...

I am also interested to see some dyno numbers...

The only thing about the header that I think looks to be slightly lacking is the collectors..

Why do you say that? Because they dont look like a "Burns" or "SPD" collector? So it looks different from the outside... it's cast! I guess we should all knock things we cant see through.

I cant believe how quick people are to judge. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the actual header or if it has more to do with who makes it.

That's great... knock a legit product with a new design to promote, not the original but... a copy!! I'm sure Danny would appreciate you using his name to promote a POS copy.

Not to get to far off topic but... I HATE it when a copycat uses the actual name of the company they knocked off... like it wasn’t bad enough they copied it, now they need to use their name to market it... so stupid!!

the s2 was developed before the smsp. the tsx header (a very similar design)has been running grand am for close to 3 years and the prototype 1st article k-swap has been running on a vehicle for a lot longer than the post made by smsp. the primary lengths, secondary lengths, and tube sizing is all very different. except for the collectors being on the same plane and being made from stainless tubing, there is nothing else similar between the smsp and s2 headers.

glad people like the box

Why does S2 take so long to present a product after hyping it forever?
IPS and Hytech and SMSP can be said to do the same thing, but when the product is in development the consumer knows. When the prototype is on a race car the consumer knows.
Take Hybrid racing for example, they are constantly keeping the customer in the know where the product is in the development stages.
The aforementioned companies did as well, but biters tried to copy their designs. The difference is the end product. No failures, and no bs.
What is the reason S2 keeps people in the dark, then back pedals when there is any controversy?

It is not a personal attack, just an observation by many voiced by few.
Tony knows I have the market/enthusiast view, and that I stay as unbiased as possible, but trends are trends.

i have the header, and i look at the from strictly the consumers standpoint. reason being, is because when i got it, i look at it to test on the car, not if its like anything else. i look for the power i will gain.

Also, the kswap from king, i think people should take his offer. with his cars, his 2 motor setups it shows he has, it would be GREAT for testing. Does anyone have a spare header to test?
