Default My K25a dyno - 89mm k24a 12.5:1 compression IPS 8620 mark2 vs K2 vs k20a2 vs k24a

BIG THANK YOU TO

Dennis at www.HYBRIDYNAMICS.com for letting us do around 50 runs in a couple hours, his insight and his very good attitude. I highly recommend his shop for dyno sessions. His rate are also very good!

Ron for the sickest K series cams and pistons on the market IPS

Ron for letting peak inside his head once in a while

Lee and frank from the www.driveshaftshop.com for sick stage 2.9 axles..

Mark for the tuning, you worry too much about cops Mark

Carlos from www.sctuned.com for the IPS cams!!! Strippers have STD correction!!!
INLINEPRO for the sick 89mm sleeves shortblock and head assembly.. Jeremy is a very good engine builder and a very nice person. I highly advice anyone to give www.inlinepro.com a call for your engine needs.

Hondata for Kpro because thanks to you, we can all feel like Formula one engine tuners!

Brian from www.Karcepts.com for the RBC connection adapter

Danny from SSR for the sick header

Jeff for the IB spec k24a rods

Myself for the motors assembly and installation

All the k20a.org sponsors and active users for supporting my love

Honda for these great motors and parts

All the haters for hating, without you my life would not be as boring

The setup

k24a block
89mm sleeves INLINEPRO
IPS 8620 K2 mark2 cams
IPS JE 12.5:1 compression pistons
IB SPEC RODS k24a I beam
SSR HEADER FOR K20a2 motors 4-2-1
STOCK RBC with karcepts ADAPTER
STOCK THROTTLE BODY
Karcepts Intake
STOCK 99mm crank
STOCK 2006 Civic Si head
SUPERTECH spings, titanium retainers, keepers with SUPERTECH FLAT FACE VALVES

Final tune on race gas and open header

same dyno, same header, same rbc, same stock TB,
but with stock k20a2 block with IPS k2 iron core. Basically showing a stock k20a2 block with iron k2 vs my K25a. Difference is the 99mm crank vs the 86mm crank, the 89mm sleeves vs the stock 86mm sleeves and the 8620 Mark 2 K2, vs the iron K2.

Now this is where it gets interesting.. Remember the k20a.org Race car from last year with the 13.5:1 pistons and the K2?

Check this out... this is last years k24a with stock sleeves, 13.5:1 compression and same crank, header, rods, manifold, TB and header..

The difference in tq can be attributed to the bigger sleeve, better cam and more efficient piston running on lower compression.. Header and stock TB intake size along with other factors are limiting my k25 but I believe this is a good indication the potential of this motor. The momentum that is getting started runs out of air pretty soon...

On the dyno we did around 50 pulls, here's some interesting graphs put together by Mark who also tuned the car

Here's HIGH CAM COMPOSITE

Here's LOW CAM COMPOSITE

OVERALL CAM COMPOSITE

VTEC Composite Crossover

Of course all these were done on the same dyno... It doesn't read as high as other dynojets but for comparison purposes it does its job and you cannot beat how friendly and accomodating Dennis the dynooperator is.. 50 runs in 2 hours should tell you how nice he is... In some other dynos, they take 4 hours to do 12 runs, eat lunch, install a part, come back, take some phone calls, go to the bathroom for 30 minutes.. etc... This is not what this guy is about.. Very happy with www.hybridynamics.com service Worth my 3 hour drive to get there with no heater in the car and open header!! lol

As far as how does it feel... You guys remember that video with the teal hatch beating on the evo and the tach run to 150mph.... Well this car is making so much more torque, it is unreal.. On 3rd gear, doing a pull on 2000 rpm is nuts.... It scared me and Mark after we driving it balls out after the tuning session... lol

Mikey from elitetuning also helped me get the car running to be able to drive it to the dyno.. Thank you k20addict!

Here;s a video of one run

http://youtube.com/watch?v=4Vc75Fq1kQc

I will get some more videos up and post them next week.

Thanks for reading, time to take it out for a spin.... LMAO

Good stuff Nikos!! I wonder how the KME's would have done, maybe I'll experiment with them in the near future.

Very nice! For the K20a2 vs your new K25 was there also a difference in compression ratio as indicated on the chart or no?

Wow, that torque is insane. Very nice build. Have any traction problems in 6th gear? ;)
