why do people not use copper plugs?

apart from the fact that they dont last as long?

i dont mind changing the plugs regularly if they are copper as with other motors i have had success with copper plugs as copper usually is a better conductor of electricity than any other metal correct?

thanks
=)

If Denso, then yes, IK-22. If u want to use NGK, then, Ifr7g-11ks.

What if i want to use copper plugs instead of iridium? Coming from the boosted b-series world i've always ran BKR7E for up to 400hp and NGK R5671A-8 for anything over 400hp.

im putting together a all motor 300hp K24 and would like to stick to copper since i like to change the plug every few thousand miles, would the BKR7E would fine on K-series without any problem?

While new and fresh they give a ever so slight advantage over Iridiums, but they degrade very quickly, especially when/if the engine tune is slightly lean. Throttle response quickly deterioates when used as a DD. I would much rather not have to pull the upper suspension bar, plug cover, coils and then the plugs every thousand miles, that is a real pain in the arse!

The cheaper Iridiums from Denso last about 20-30K miles (IK22), a set of coppers last a K, even at 2k life for the coppers, the Iridiums end up being cheaper.

I'm running NGK R5671A-9 in my car now, but it's more of a race car than street car.

but from a performance point of view, wouldnt you rather change plugs regularly and have an edge in performance than buy somehting and know you dont?

i mean i would rather get coppers and change them every 5000kms instead of ir and change them 100,000kms

The edge is minimal. Like he said, it costs him just as much money, and more time (more money), to change plugs every month instead of once a year.

for a cammed k24, what spark plugs do you recommend?

stock k20 plugs?
ie. IFR7G-11KS

is there people running these plugs on a k24 with no spark problems?

For daily driven I went with the NGK Laser Iridium Spark Plugs which is pricy but that's just me, IMO.

Just got a set of IK22 today. Engine pretty much stock and the gap seem to be in the 0.028" range. Should I regap to factory 0.044" or somewhere in between?
