So I never updated this. Anyways.

Here are the things I checked:
  • Crankshaft run-out (for straightness measure)
  • Crankshaft main journal diameters
  • Crankshaft con-rod journal diameters
  • Cylinder bore in X and Y direction at three different heights per FSM
  • Engine block deck warpage

I'll show you guys some pics.

I measured crank run-out using an eBay indicator and a HFT magnetic base:

Then I cal'd the mic and measured the crankshaft journals in the X and Y directions:

Measuring into the bores with the depth indicator on my caliper I marked the depths to measure with my dial bore gauge:

Then I cal'd my dial bore gauge and started taking measurements in the X and Y direction at the three different depths specified in the TSX Factory Service Manual (even though this is a CR-V Motor):

Then I finally checked for warpage:

Turns out EVERYTHING is in-spec

Except for the cylinder bores

They are egged in the direction in which the con-rods push. Which makes sense since they exhibit force in that direction.

Therefore, I will either bore to 87.5 or 88 mm on stock sleeves. This is why:

Anyway...keep watchin'

The engine will come very slowly due to the fact that I need to remain daily-driveability. However, the car will still be seeing mods that are daily-driver-friendly, like KPro and bolt-ons.

Once I get a daily driver and some more money I will consider dropping this into the motor. Currently I'm working with my Dad who has a Jeep that has been sitting in our garage for more than ten years which he refuses to fix or sell. If he will sell it to me I will fix it and sell it for profit or I will keep it and daily drive it! Regardless...I'm determined to get to where I need to build this whip.

Even if I don't end up dropping this motor in till I graduate college I'm stoked to see what path my car takes while it transforms...

Thanks for reading guys! I appreciate all of the positive comments from you's and all of the motivation I have recieved from K20a. This is hands-down the best forum I've been on.

No, engine won't be done for a long time. Plan as of now is to do bolt-ons with the K20 and pick up a daily within the next two years so that I can finish the engine build.

also, Calvin? lol

So I have an update!

I am going to be leaving Wisconsin for Philly this Friday (the 21st) and so I have ordered some new parts...but you'll just have to wait and see what they are because they're being delivered to PA. ;)

Anyway, me and some of my friends got together before I was supposed to leave and knocked some things out for the whip.

First off, my buddy from Secret Society of Rockford, IL gave me a little going away present for the track ;)

I have been looking at pricing for a full season of auto-x over in the East Coast and MAN is it expensive

It's nearly DOUBLE the cost to do SCCA Solo without a membership and WITH pre-registration in Philly.

So I'm debating whether I want to take the classes in SCCA seriously and really try and compete for a place or just do it for fun because I won't be able to afford a full season over there

On another note, my car came with a stupid-ass trailer hitch for some stupid reason...it was mounted to my hatch 0__o. I teamed up with Spaz and we banged that out real quick.

Thank goodness

Also, Sim, how long did it take for your K Pro dealer to process your purchase and send a purchase order to Hondata. My dealer is really effing up and I'm super pissed about it

I want to cry

it's gonna suck not being out here man. I really wish I could have stayed for the summer but honestly I'm so grateful I came out here even if it was snowing all of the time. I met some really cool people

Again thanks for showing me a good time man.

my rsx came with kpro but when i had my em2 with kswap i had kpro and it took about 2 weeks to send it to hondata and get it back. that was 6 years ago. dont know what the handle time is now. i would assume it would be longer just because kswaps are more popular than 6 years ago. they were expensive back then.
