Default RBC vs. RRC vs. Skunk2

So, we with all the talk over the release of Skunk2's intake manifold along with our ported RRC intake manifold lying around, we decided to test them against the proven almighty RBC.

The engine we're testing on is a k24/k20 frank. 12.5:1 stock bore, rcrew header, 3" exhaust, 70mm TB, IPS K2 iron core cams.

Installer notes: the Skunk2 manifold puts the TPS right up against the radiator hose. We weren't initially too concerned since we're just testing but if permanent, we'd need another radiator hose. Skunk2 manifold is the easiest out of the 3 to install (only because of the hole between the runners for a gearwrench to fit and actually ratchet. We cut the Skunk2 manifold just like we would a unmolested RBC just for simplicity of changing out these manifolds quickly with the car strapped down.

The manifolds

The car with the RBC

The car with the RRC

The car with the Skunk2

The graph with all 3 tuned best runs overlayed.

all in all, these 3 manifolds seemed to make about the same power. RBC/RRC made most peak. RRC lost a little on the midrange. RBC/Skunk2 tied in the midrange. This only happened after cam angle changes were made. The Skunk2 manifold wanted more cam angle down low and little less in the middle, up top, same as RBC.

why did you test a ported rbc to a non ported sk2... but at the end the sk2 made the same amount of power as a ported rbc.

judging from the photos, I think SuJa is referring to 70mm TB port match on manifold.

Jason please confirm.

Refer to above.
At least its as good as an rbc, without the need for an adapter... still really not worth it though.
OEM casting quality > all.

Lol, beat me to it zerotraction.
Heh, thanks for taking the time to test it. Much appreciated

thanks pb16b/Suja1 good work guys.

so the retail value of the k-series skunk2 manifold should really be around the price of their B-series one $260-$270
