Honda's "secret" cam tool: DIY photos...

This is the tool Honds specifies for aligning the cams. PN#07AAB-RWCA120. It costs about $5 or so...

It has been mentioned here on and off, but still is pretty obscure. Anyhow, it is just a pair of steel pins that index through hole in the rear journal of each cam and lock that cam into the proper position in the cam tray.

I bought them some time ago but only got around to doing the motor now, and can report that they work great! Basically, as long as the crank is in time, you cannot miss on timing the cams since it the pins lock the cams into place. Just thought I would pass on my experiences. Highly recommended. :up:

i do it the easy way and use adjustable wrenches on the cams.. J/k

haha that way is sooooo much more fun.......not lol... This was def good info. timing the motor was prob the hardest part of it all... Not any more!

locks the cam in place so its on timing. I can get this but they do not cost $5 bucks.

i dont find timing hard without them to be honest , lol. but they are cool for sure. time saver if anything.

You can make your own tools with some 5mm metal or plastic rod.

Then you have something wrong with your setup.

With the motor at TDC, and everything properly timed, the holes will line up perfectly through the #5 cam tower.

I can get the cam gears to line up perfect an the bottom end all the timing marks line up just not the were the Honda tool goes one of the holes lines up an the other doesn't
