I just went a bought one..sometimes trying to get something replaced is more of a hassle then just spending the money. Especially if you gotta get on the road ASAP..

Yeah that's very true. I'll keep my fingers crossed haha. I tried to look around to see if anyone had documented feedback about these but had no luck

got bored and did some mock ups haha..
IMG_7842 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

mounted the shifter on the base plate and trimmed the plasic to fit..
IMG_7855 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

at this point i was able to mount the engine in the bay. this was a huge milestone for me in this journey thats taken over two years now
IMG_7862 by evan mclaren, on Flickr
IMG_7878 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

did some brake upgrades with some new mini coop rotors, itr calipers, stoptech pads, and goodridge lines.
IMG_7868 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

they fit quite nicely behind the gram lights with plenty of room to spare
IMG_7871 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

routed the engine and charge harnesses

fashioned up a simple intake out of some 3.5" tubing, vibrant coupler, clamps, and v stack filter.

alright so since i was a dumbass and broke the vtc solenoid, i had to order a new one.
IMG_7893 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

traction bar
IMG_7939 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

meant to install this when the motor was out but somehow forgot haha
IMG_7941 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

also grabbed a double din block off to clean up the center console. I also cut up an old black floor mat to cover up the bare tunnel that could be seen under what plastic i had to trim to fit the shifter.
IMG_7949 by evan mclaren, on Flickr
IMG_7952 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

drilled and tapped underneath the manifold to run the brake booster line
IMG_7920 by evan mclaren, on Flickr
IMG_7936 by evan mclaren, on Flickr
IMG_7998 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

S2k clutch master and goodridge clutch line
IMG_7930 by evan mclaren, on Flickr
IMG_7933 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

gates gsr lower rad hose trimmed to fit since i bought the wrong silicone ones. this works perfectly though.
IMG_7937 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

heater hoses and valve. it all worked perfectly utilizing what remained of the oem hoses that were left attached to the motor when i purchased it.
IMG_7983 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

installed the radiator mounting brackets. this radiator uses a pair of L brackets that attach to the headlight mounts instead of the top like a traditional radiator.
IMG_7938 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

trimmed the hood webbing to avoid contact with the vc. i think im going to have to trim a little right above the intake mani plenum as well. i have the engine mounted on the higher position to get as much ground clearance as possible therefore sacrificing my hood clearance.
IMG_7962 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

another issue arising from using the upper mounting position is the fact that the header and skunk2 midpipe dont line up very well. instead of cutting up that catback to fit i chose to sell it to fund some 3" kteller piping and vibrant ultra quiet resonator. Im planning on running a 3" high flow cat into a resonator with the muffler id already purchased at the back.
IMG_7922 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

Ive been debating for a while over which tires i wanted to run on this car.
i knew i wanted something in the 200tw range but without any personal experience i had no idea what id like. ive always read alot of good things about hankook rs3's but unfortunately i missed picking up a set of those at their closeout price. So instead i picked up a set of their successors, the Rs4 in 225/45. theyre nice and meaty and fit perfectly square on an 8j whell.

IMG_7969 by evan mclaren, on Flickr
IMG_7991 by evan mclaren, on Flickr
IMG_7980 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

im pretty happy with the way the car sits but i may raise it up a hair for the oil pans sake. im right at 3.75" off the ground as it sits.

so thats about where im at with the car right now. i still need to install the walbro, wire in the conversion harness, install the axles that should be here tomorrow, get some oil, filter, and spark plugs before i can fire it up. i also just discovered that both front wheel bearings are shot. great haha

Had a question, why keep the heater hose motor? I run both my heater hoses directly to the firewall, and have good heat to the car. Is it an emission issue?

Also good luck with those wheel bearings. Fcking nightmare. So much so I bought a whole new set of spindles (USDM ITR 5Lug).

Car looking nifty!

Are you referring to the heater valve? I still wanted to be able to control the amount of heat that enters the car. I don't have a valve in my civic at the moment and hot air still comes through the vents even when the blower isn't running. It's not fun when it's hot outside haha

took care of rolling the quarter panels to clear the tires. now i have room to go a little more positive with the camber if i want.

IMG_8006 by evan mclaren, on Flickr
IMG_8008 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

also took care of spicing in the conversion harness and figuring out how i was going to mount the ecu. instead of putting the ecu on the floor or in the kick panel, i wanted to have it in the glove box so it was easily accessible. i cut a hole for plugs to access the back of the ecu and mounted the conversion harness plug and o2 sensor relay to the underside of the airbox. this way the engine harness enters the firewall and has a straight shot to the ecu and nothing is dangling or on the floor for a passenger to accidentally kick.

IMG_7268 by evan mclaren, on Flickr
IMG_7265 by evan mclaren, on Flickr
IMG_7267 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

the red and green wires in this pic are the four open leads to the E plug on the ecu that needed to be spiced into the original ecu plug A.
i extend the leads so i had enough slack to tuck them back behind the carpet and the kick panel.

IMG_7257 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

how the Kpro sits in the glove with the laptop port to the front and data link connector in there as well
IMG_7262 by evan mclaren, on Flickr
IMG_7269 by evan mclaren, on Flickr

after the wiring was done i pulled the back seat and installed a walbro fuel pump. i didnt take any pics cause i had fuel all over me hands but it was simple.

the interiors finally all back together
