Does anyone know how much the K20 and K24 engines weigh? I don't want to upset the handling of the EG too much.
On a similar note, what are the handling characteristics like with a EG/EK/K20/K24 swap? More understeer I imagine.
Cheers,
Dave

As I was removing the B20VTEC from my 99 Integra to install a JDM K20A with the new Hasport EG/DC K-Series mount kit (shameless plug), it dawned on me that I still had not seen any real numbers regarding the weight differences of these things. I dug out my trusty Longacre corner balance scales, zero'd them out, and tossed the motors on em. I made sure to take pictures of the scale readings, name them, save them to the pc, and clear out the camera before I did the 2nd motor. I also tried to keep the motors as similiar as possible, neither had an exhaust manifold of any kind, or an A/C compressor. The B-Series motor DID have a power steering pump, and the A/C torque mount, so factor in 5 lbs or so on top of the numbers below..
B-Series engine/trans: 401 pounds
K-Series engine/trans: 403 pounds
In conclusion, these are surprising numbers, I figured (like most I bet) that the K-Series motor would be lighter. I'll weigh a few more B and K series swaps in the coming weeks and see what else I find.

What you think what I said I just made up, what I posted above was with from the manufacturer.
The lotus guy are uneasy about putty heavy ass engines in the exige's.
They really like the k20 over there.

if you seriously think a complete K20 motor weighs 275, you need to lay off whatever you are smoking.
I can see just the longblock weighing 275 but no way the complete motor weighs that little

Locash has no reason to lie about the freaking weights, so I believe the scales instead of the internet scales.. lol

The Lotus forum weights are engine only weights. Locash weighed the engines with tranny, flywheel and clutch.

K20A: RSX Type-R 275
F20A: S2000 281 (don't know if this is diff from the F20C)
Rover K Series: OG Elise 189
Rover K VVTA: Elise 111S 206 ? unofficial based on the head weight delta
2ZZ-GE: Celica GTS 246 (Toyota headers and intake)
Renesis: RX8 275
Wasen't a dressed wieght.
This is.
code:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dressed ( in lbs)
Renesis = 273 F20C= 326
Did not say he was a liar, and I dont smoke taqman.
I would not call that an accurate way in measuring an engines wieght.
With what looks like a corner weight scale two of them put together.

Yes I'm not discriminating the corner wieght scale for the car.
In my opinion not for a leaning engine.
Thats just me.

The physics are the same, the weight is accurate.
The weights you posted are simply without transmissions attached. That's how Honda weighs them.

I understand now. Thats not how I was told to look at physics in school.
